Channel Guice is a mixed‑media artist who focuses on textiles and works with hand‑dyed batik fabrics. Raised in New Orleans, she was drawn early to vivid color and bold pattern. Her creative direction began to take shape in 1995 at YAYA Inc., where she learned furniture restoration and how to turn creative talent into a career. Her practice found a definitive focus after studying batik with Indonesian artist Viktor Sarjano, whose techniques became the foundation of her work.

Channel’s process is intuitive and sensory-driven: immersing herself in abstract pattern and color induces a meditative state in which making is both essential and restorative. She designs for the body so movement carries the energy she pours into each piece, and in 2016 she launched channelguice collective to produce costuming and handcrafted work that feels personal and impactful.

Before returning to the studio full time, Channel spent 14 years as a Visual Arts educator—teaching K–12 in a Louisiana public alternative school and K–4 at a private school in California. In 2021, she left the classroom to refine her craft, earning degrees in Studio Arts and Fashion Design from Santa Monica College in 2024 and a Fashion Design degree from California State University in 2026. Based in Los Angeles, she consults on creative projects and produces custom pieces for high‑profile and celebrity clients while continuing to experiment with new textile techniques that expand the possibilities of fabric and form.
